October is a month where my Netflix use skyrockets, the weather is terrible and I find it a good way to switch off from everything. So I thought I would talk about 5 things that I have been loving on Netflix at the moment.
How To Get Away with Murder
This is a TV show I love but can become a bit too samey when binge watching. This is a series created by Shonda Rhimes, and there are currently 3 seasons on Netflix. Each episode is around 40 minutes long. I began watching this last year as it is a legal thriller. It follows a college law lecturer and her students who then murder someone. She helps them cover it up and the series continues. It is very well written and I can’t wait to catch up with the newer seasons.
November 13: Attack on Paris
This is a 3 part series on Netflix about the 2015 attacks in Paris. I personally did not realise how many parts of Paris were attacked on this night, I remember the news being more focused on the Bataclan. It was really eye-opening to me. This shows survivors and first responders tell their stories. The documentary is completely in French so this has to be watched with subtitles but it really is worth a watch.
This was a really hard watch. It is a movie about the 2011 attacks in Norway that saw the loss of 77 people. This movie doesn’t spend too long showing the attack only around the first 30 minutes and then moves on to focus more on the aftermath of it. It mainly follows the aftermath of two brothers that survive, one with serious injuries and one that was physically unscathed. Personally, I don’t cry at movies or tv shows but if you do you will probably cry.
This is a Netflix original series about the Unabomber. It follows a new FBI Profiler in his bid to catch the man who has been a serial bomber for 17 years. I did find this humanised the Unabomber a bit too much for me, however, it was still a really interesting series.
On a more light-hearted note, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my favourite throw on tv show. It’s a comedy following a police department in Brooklyn. There are currently 4 seasons on Netflix with each episode lasting around 20 minutes. The reason this is great in October is they have a Halloween Heist episode in each season where the characters get involved in hilarious antics.
