As a university student, like many others, I have exams in December. This year my exams are extremely late – I don’t finish uni until the 19th of December!

The lead up to exams can absolutely kill any festive feeling as it is a stressful period. Usually, I’m okay with ignoring festivities as exams are usually finished within the first or second week. However, having exams so late in December I don’t want to miss out on all the festivities.

So here are some of the ways I am attempting to stay festive.

Christmas decorations

Take the time to put all your Christmas decorations up. This can be a really fun break from studying and all the fairy lights make everything feel cosy.

Watch Christmas Movies

There’s nothing I find more festive than watching my favourite Christmas movies. It’s a great way to spend a few hours relaxing.

Watch Christmas TV Episodes / Vlogmas

If you don’t have time to watch a full Christmas movie then why not watch a Christmas episode of your favourite TV show or a vlogmas from your favourite Youtuber. This is a nice way to take a short break.

Listen to Christmas music

This doesn’t always work for me as sometimes I just want to sing along but listening to Christmas music whilst I’m not having to focus too much is a nice way to stay festive. If you’re trying to avoid the retail classics then I highly recommend Sia’s Christmas album.

Wear Christmas clothes

Whilst studying I like to be comfy and cosy, a Christmas jumper is perfect for this. Or if I’m feeling particularly lazy my Christmas pyjamas.

Visit Christmas Markets

It’s impossible to spend every single day studying. It’s not a healthy way to focus for exams. Taking a day off to spend at the markets is a great way to get into the festive spirit.
