This year has been filled with some amazing highlights but there were some lows too. As Instagram can be a highlight reel and I’ve done little monthly posts here and there I thought I would do a post talking about the big things that happened in 2019. Including the lows as well as the highs.<\/p>\n

Made Redundant<\/h3>\n

The first big thing that happened to me in 2019 was that I was made redundant. This happened in January and I never really spoke about it as I hadn’t been in the job long, it was only a part-time retail job but it hit me really hard. It was really gutting news and one that we found out through the newspapers rather than from head office. I had finally made friends through this job and had finally felt settled in Dundee and it really brought me down.<\/p>\n

Thankfully I had a few months before it kicked in and there was the chance we could be offered a new job within the company but it wasn’t what I wanted to hear in the first month of the year.<\/p>\n

New Job<\/h3>\n

I almost immediately started job hunting. I hated the insecurity that came with redundancy and as I have my own flat I really couldn’t afford to be without a job.<\/p>\n

That being said the first month or so I allowed myself to be pretty picky with the kind of job I wanted. I figured since I had a few months I could take the time to find something that paid well and was decent hours and thankfully, I quickly found the one that suited me.<\/p>\n

By March I was starting my new job and leaving the old one behind. I was so scared to move jobs as I  really enjoyed the team I worked with but it all worked out. I’m still in the same job and I don’t see me leaving it until I finish uni.<\/p>\n

Engaged<\/h3>\n

This is the best thing that happened in 2019. WE GOT ENGAGED! <\/strong>I actually can’t believe that it happened even although Nick and I have been together for 6 years and I knew the whole time he had the ring. Although we aren’t getting married until we have finished uni in a few years’ time, I can’t wait to be a wifey.<\/p>\n

Travel<\/h3>\n

I’ve got a whole post coming up in the next week that will talk about everywhere I visited in 2019 but here’s a small overview of our two big holidays abroad.<\/p>\n

In May we jetted off to Iceland. I cannot explain how amazing this trip was, it’s genuinely my most favourite country ever. We spent a week here and it really just was not long enough. Our highlights included seeing the Geysir, the plane wreckage, going to the blue lagoon and whale watching.<\/p>\n

In August we jetted off to Fuerteventura. This was a holiday with my family and I loved every minute of it. It was so nice to get some sunshine and I always completely relax when I am here. Having Nick there encouraged me to go and explore more of the island and I really found the style I wanted for my Instagram while I was here.<\/p>\n

Uni<\/h3>\n

I’m going to do a whole blog post about this now that I am comfortable talking about it but I actually failed 2nd year of uni in June. Despite this, I decided to continue with my degree and go back in September to repeat the modules that I failed. Now I’ve actually been able to focus on uni and make it the priority it should be. I feel like I fit in better with this year’s class.<\/p>\n

Joined my uni’s social media team<\/h3>\n

This year I had the confidence to apply for my uni’s social media team and I became part of the team! I’ve taken over their Instagram for a day, wrote blog posts for them and it’s just been great to have other people support and encourage me so much with my blog.<\/p>\n

Blog<\/h3>\n

This year I worked with numerous brands on my blog and I am so proud of myself. I’ve worked with Moonpig, National Express, Innis and Gunn and Megabus just to name a few.<\/p>\n

It’s let me continue to grow my skills, got me an extra job at uni that has enhanced my CV and overall has been fun. I can’t see where it takes me in 2020.<\/p>\n

\"Photography:<\/p>\n

2019 had it’s up’s and downs. I really didn’t expect to lose a job, fail university and end up going through counselling again but here we are. Life isn’t a highlight reel and these things happen. The good definitely outweighs the negative and I’m going into 2020 with a lot more confidence and positivity.<\/p>\n
